
I do not know about you, but I prefer not to be a vaccine against influenza. This does not mean I want the flu. Not at all! But I prefer to stay healthy by eating healthy foods that get filled with a needle. Some call me crazy … Oh, wait! They all called me crazy! Glad it from the road.
There are many foods that are readily available to help you stay healthy and boost your immune system. We know that when the season of cold and flu hits us in September when children return to school, and in January, after we eat too many sweets during the holidays. So why not build your immune system in August and restart from the last week of December? Build power of the immune system to fight the super-cold and flu if they come knocking.
Vitamin C is a biggie. Oranges are an excellent source of vitamin C. Nature knows we need extra help during the winter months, because that’s when most of orange and citrus fruits are in season. We can shorten the duration of colds by 80% if we have enough vitamin C. A great way to start the day with a delicious glass of freshly squeezed orange juice.
Did you know that dark chocolate is really good for you? No dark chocolate, you can get from the grocery store, but the stuff you buy at the health food store. Cocoa is extremely high in antioxidants. These antioxidants help small to boost your immune system. What I mean is that chocolate, the dark kind that eat little sugar to combat the flu. Is not that amazing? I could not imagine a better thing to eat to stay healthy.
If you get little chicken soup influenza virus is a wonderful remedy. Grandma really knew what she does when she makes chicken soup when I was sick. It is mild anti-inflammatory properties in the chicken broth to help prevent and cure colds and flu. Homemade soup is truly the best, but if you’re in a pinch, the stuff in can help. Make sure you get one with most goodies such as onions, celery, carrots, garlic, parsley, etc.
